Welcome to the fifth grade sustainability project. The goal is to try to help the students develop global awareness and engagement; to encourage them to participate effectively as world citizens and to help solve world problems. This wiki is documenting the evolution of this new, yearlong project integrating writing, math, technology, etc. We want our students to understand the underlying concepts of sustainability and why it is important that we all work towards a sustainable future. Through a specific action project that we have identified, we hope the children will come to know that they are capable of making change and having an impact on a healthy and sustainable future for us all. In our action project, they will learn the skills necessary to impact change: research, planning, presentation, specific actions, and how to contact people for support and information.
